My Favorite Commercial!
Normally all of the new Direct TV commercials can make me chuckle but for some reason this one just tickles me down right to death! Maybe it's the dying your eyebrows and attending your own funeral as a guy named Phil Shiftily that gets me. I don't know. I catch my self mouthing a long with the guy on this commercial every time it comes on! I was in a complete awful mood until this commercial came on just a few minutes ago. Funny how the littlest things can brighten my day...or night....

Alice in Wonderland

| Melanie Benjamin's Alice I Have Been |
Recently I read a nice book by a lady named Melanie Benjamin called "Alice I Have Been". I have always adored anything "Alice in Wonderland" related and so naturally, when I saw this book I had to buy it and see what it was like. As I suspected, it was a Biography of the real Alice in Wonderland....Alice Liddell. I read the book in less than a week, it was such a great book and I'd suggest it to any one.
I've known for a while now that Alice really wasn't a blond haired blue eyed girl. After the recent movie of Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton is when I decided to learn more about Lewis Carrol and his little muse named Alice, and that's when I found out that Alice Liddell was much like...me. So much that it gives me shivers just thinking about it. As you can see in the picture above of Alice dressed as a beggar girl, posing for Mr. Dodgeson (Lewis Carrol was only a pin name.) little Alice has dark hair and dark eyes. Her hair short with fringed bangs. I too had this look when I was about her age, mostly because I got a hold of some scissors and cut my hair myself (attempting to be a barber like my grandmother, I also cut any dolls hair that I had...stuffed animals, etc.) If you want to know what I was like when I was a little girl watch Alice in Wonderland...then read "Alice I Have Been."

I cried. "Alice I Have Been" made me cry. A lot. But I couldn't put it down. Reading the book was like reading my heart....I had forgotten how much a lot of the people I love with all my heart remind me of the characters in Alice in Wonderland...even in "Alice I Have Been". When I was finished with it all I wanted to do was wrap my arms around those odd, silly people that I love so much and kiss them. Tell them how much I love them because unlike Mrs. Alice Pleasance Liddell-Hargreaves...I haven't lost them. And pray that I never do. Though, her and I are so eerily much a like I can't help but wonder.

The Kaylea Harris Look
Kaylea Harris Style ;) Pinterest Board
A lot of you ask me about my "Old Fashioned Style" and how I do it. It's always hard to explain "how". I just do it. I've grown up around a lot of grandparent's and I fell in love with the Vintage styles a long time ago. So, as I sat here...doing nothing...searching for some new dresses for me to perform in this Summer, a marvelous idea just went "pop!" into my head. Pinterest. If you click on the link above it will take you to one of my Pinterest boards showing you how, what I use, etc. etc.
